POETRY

HENCEFORTH N
HENCE FORTH NEXT TIME

In a cage a dazzling white bird lay still
And dare not speak or groan even,
Dare not unfold wings, even behind safe bars.
Rival, a dark black one outside,
Persuading and challenging
With tight fist for a hand.

A little exit wide open though.
And lovers of lightness and brightness,
In dark corners, waiting and watching.
Ready to execute the darkness.
The sun about to tear of the veil,
Roses ready to tear the gown,
Breeze just to blow the flute,
Dancer brooks to take the suit,
Cascades with their music ready
And the revolution to take the stage.

A cat out of darkness fled
And while chasing a rat on stage
A sharp Mandela dance performed.
The white bird did stay inside till
And the curtains fell.
Audience left in despair
Bearing the proclamation in ear,

Hence forth next time!

SHORT STORIES

QUEST

A man heavy laden with a luggage was once wandering in silent and solitary vales of Himalayas in Kashmir. He met another man, also laden with luggage, but not so heavy. The later asked the former …., ‘what are you wandering for?’ The former replied softly, ‘I am in quest of peaceful life ……… that dwells here … someone told me, but where you are going to?’ ‘I am migrating to the town, nearest, to listen life speaking. Here is, but a dreadful silence’, later replied.
Just then another man came running-flooded in sweat; clothes torn; exhausted with sinking breaths and pleaded them both …. ‘Please hide me, I am sacred. They would kill me …… I am being chased by’. … Both of the listeners enquired with startling sound, ‘By whom are you being chased?’ And just before falling unconscious the man replied,
‘A silent bear and a barking dog.’
